·         To learn more about the diseases your state and hospital tests for, visit http://genes-r-us.uthscsa.edu/nbsdisorders.htm. If your state does not test for at least 50 diseases you can request expanded newborn screening.

The screening is performed separately from state-mandated screening and does not replace state-mandated screening. The test is performed under the supervision of pediatric geneticists in Mayo's Biochemical Genetics Laboratory.
